CARICOM Countries Affected
The ICE deportation list provides detailed figures for 19 CARICOM countries. While Anguilla was not explicitly mentioned in the ICE report, I have included it in the analysis and assigned it a count of 0 for completeness (and giving us a total of 20 countries).
Below is a breakdown of the number of individuals from each nation, sorted alphabetically. Additionally, I have included the percentage these deportation numbers represent in relation to each country’s total population using data sourced from the World Bank and other sources.
- Anguilla: 0 (representing 0% of the total population)
- Antigua-Barbuda: 110 (representing 0.11% of the total population)
- Bahamas: 426 (0.10%)
- Barbados: 151 (0.05%)
- Belize: 899 (0.21%)
- Bermuda: 10 (0.01%)
- British Virgin Islands: 5 (0.01%)
- Cayman Islands: 2 (0.002%)
- Dominica: 104 (0.14%)
- Grenada: 149 (0.11%)
- Guyana: 1,236 (0.15%)
- Haiti: 32,363 (0.27%)
- Jamaica: 5,120 (0.18%)
- Montserrat: 8 (0.17%)
- Saint Lucia: 202 (0.11%)
- St. Kitts-Nevis: 68 (0.14%)
- St. Vincent-Grenadines: 127 (0.12%)
- Suriname: 137 (0.02%)
- Trinidad and Tobago: 1,197 (0.07%)
- Turks and Caicos Islands: 25 (0.05%)
In the above chart, values are shown in descending order, from largest to smallest. Haiti has been removed due to the sheer number of persons listed in comparison to other countries and the resulting effect on the chart.
Key Observations
- Haiti Dominates the Numbers
The majority of CARICOM nationals listed for deportation come from Haiti, with a staggering 32,363 individuals (or 76% of the total amount). - Jamaica and Trinidad Also Stand Out
After Haiti, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago follow with 5,120 and 1,197 individuals, respectively. - Smaller Nations Are Not Exempt
Even smaller CARICOM nations like Antigua-Barbuda, Dominica, and St. Kitts-Nevis are represented on the deportation list, demonstrating that this issue affects the entire region.
In summary
42,339 CARICOM citizens across 20 CARICOM member and associate member states have been identified by U.S. ICE officials for removal from the United States of America based on a November 2024 list.
