At the time of this blog post, 8 persons have appeared in court (which may have resulted in them being charged, convicted, et cetera), for 6 of the 19 homicides that I documented in 2023. As time permits, I will review past homicide posts and find out – via Google searches and media reports – if persons were identified and brought to court for said killings.

The Table below provides details on those who were killed and those who were charged:

Table 1 - Court appearances for 2023 Homicides
Table 1 – Court appearances for 2023 Homicides

From the above Table:

  • 4 persons were from St. Michael, while the other 4 were from Christ Church, St. James, St. John and St. Philip.
  • Average age of those appearing in court = 24 years old.
  • The youngest person to appear in court was 20-year-old Victor Martin Hoyte in connection with the killing of Mitchell Nicholls in December 2023.
  • The eldest was 37-year-old Alex Damian Burnett in connection with the killing of Hendy Greaves on September 7 2023.
  • Within 30 days, for each of the 6 killings, persons were brought before the courts.
